Folk artist JD Logan, entirely self taught, turned to painting only a few years ago when an injury to his left hand in 1998 forced him to set aside the guitar, his first love. From the beginning, his paintings have been inspired by the peace and beauty of the surrounding hills and towns of his New England home.
Although JD Logan has been painting only a short time, his paintings hang in numerous private collection in the US and abroad. Recently, Early American Life Magazine chose him to be in The Directory of Traditional American Crafts which recognizes the country’s finest artisans. J.D.’s work can be seen regularly on the set of the hit TV series “The Gilmore Girls.”
JD lives with his wife and daughter in a small cape nestled in the hills of Western Massachusetts. JD’s sister, Carol Lew, lives nearby and is also an artist. Working out of a studio in his home, surrounded by family and nature, JD seeks simplicity in both his art and his life.
