Drawing has always been a part of my life. Growing up I always declared that someday, I would be an artist. My first sketchbooks were filled with horses, like most girls they were my subject of choice. As the years went on I became more interested in cars, and sold my horse for my first car, a 1988 Ford Mustang convertible.
I am a 26 year old completely self taught artist, constantly inspired by everyday moments. I spend my days as a stay at home mother to a very dramatic 4 year old princess. My husband and I also welcomed our second daughter into the world July of 2008. Since then, life is far from boring, but somehow I still feel the need to make time to draw. I believe drawing is very therapeutic, and lately have come to appreciate the art process even more.
At the young age of 16, I had a few pencil drawn pieces of art hung in our local gallery. It took all I had courage wise to approach that gallery. The owner was a sweet older lady, whose opinion I came to value very much. She was not the least bit shy to give me constructive criticism. She reminded me that I possessed an artists’ license. If I felt to shade the clouds darker then my reference picture, then that was my choice to make. This ‘license’ allowed me to do so.
On a lighter note, I love chocolate peanut butter ice cream, my favorite color is grass green, and I have a love for Ford Mustangs.
