Kate Pitner’s love of art began as a little girl when she wanted to draw pictures of horses (24 hours a day). Her father, a scientist by trade, taught her to draw the only two animals he knew how to create: buffalo and horses. After sketching about four zillion copies of those two animals, Kate was hooked and she’s been drawing ever since.
In school Kate enjoyed studying many types of art styles and learning to use a variety of mediums. She attended the University of California at Davis, earning a degree in Environmental Design. It was there that she fine-tuned her style and learned the balance between art and design. After working for a short time at an Interior Design business, Kate decided she needed to pursue her art in other areas. Since then she has worked as a freelance artist and illustrator, creating greeting cards, invitations, baby apparel, and decorative house flags. Kate is proud to be now offering her artwork for licensing.
When she isn’t working at her drawing table, Kate teaches art at a local elementary school. Working with kids helps her to keep tuned-in to her ‘inner-child’ and inspires her to create from that perspective. Kate resides in Southern California with her husband Mark, their two sons, a big ‘ol dog named Shamus, six fish (at least by today’s count), and Spike the lizard.
