Marcia Perry

mperry.gifBased on the advice of an Eastern Indian Philosophy Professor and Palm-reader, I began my art career in 1973. The airbrush became my tool of choice because of its’ unique versatility. Ever since, I have survived on my art skills, designing and airbrushing clothing, murals, illustrations and paintings. In 1981 I joined fellow artist and collaborator, Meg Biddle, in creating Biddle Perry Studios.

My paintings and prints have sold in galleries and aquariums in Colorado, California, Hawaii and Florida since 1980. As a freelance artist, I have created commissioned art for restaurants, businesses, schools, private homes, libraries, etc., resulting in more than forty private and public murals.

My artwork has been published in products and books in since 1981. I illustrated The Tarot of Love which is selling in the US and Europe Licensing my art makes it more accessible for most people than fine art. I am just as happy to have my art in the hands of a child or on a family’s kitchen wall as in a museum or a gallery.

Believing that we need to pass on what we’ve learned, I have taught art skills and airbrush technique over the last twenty five years. In 2000 Meg and I founded and opened Youth Arts Collective, a non-profit after school art program. YAC is a professionally equipped art studio complete with consistent, compassionate mentoring for artistic 14-22 year olds. We have joyfully mentored and taught two hundred thirty five young creatives, so far, forty at a time. For many of these kids, YAC and art is their lifeline. Visit yacstudios.org.

I am a stubborn optimist in life and in my art. I prefer the pretty truths. The imagery I choose is a fusion of nature, imagination and intuition, with the intention to honor the beauty and spirit of nature and the human spirit in a universal language. My hope is that my art uplifts people to a sense of compassion and connectedness, even just a little bit. I am happy to take special commissions.
